DESCRIPTION
The GIS Working Group was organized in January 2002 to address infrastructure needs for GIS-based research and to promote spatial social science at Columbia. Since its creation this coalition has sought to expand GIS activity at Columbia by building on existing infrastructure and to provide a mechanism for information-sharing and coordinated planning across the University. The working group was recently awarded a grant from Columbia University\'s Academic Quality Fund (AQF) to expand GIS resources at Columbia University.
